The election of Donald Trump and the threat he poses to our climate and democracy should frighten us all.

Dear John,

We have never needed you more.

The election of Donald Trump and the threat he poses to our climate and democracy should frighten us all. Consider just two of his nominees: former Rep. Lee Zeldin – with a lifetime score of 14% from LCV – to lead EPA, and fracking CEO Chris Wright as Secretary of Energy. And we are already seeing the Project 2025 plan taking shape. What do we do?

We stand together. Look at the difference we made together in our state.

You helped us elect Josh Stein. You defeated Mark Robinson. You helped us break the veto-proof legislature. You elected Jeff Jackson and Allison Riggs.

Now, we must stand together to stop the Trump administration and the NC General Assembly from destroying our environment and democracy. We must work to protect North Carolina families from a future racked by devastating events, like Helene.

Now we must stand together as we fight for you in the legislature, in the media, in our local communities. This is the most urgent challenge of our lifetime. But together, we will defend democracy, protect your right to protect your own health, protect your right to clean air, clean water, clean energy, and a livable climate.

We have never needed you more.
