THIS is going to make you angry.
John, did you know that EVERY single water company in England and Wales is under criminal investigation over ILLEGAL sewage spills?
Meanwhile in Scotland and Northern Ireland, we have basically no idea about the scale of pollution, as water companies, regulators and government refuse to fess up about how much raw sewage is being dumped.
As CEO of Surfers Against Sewage, I thought I’d seen it all, but I’m still shocked by the new lows polluters can sink to.
You’d think after all the headlines, all the talk, water companies wouldn’t dare. But whistleblowers say they’re knowingly failing to treat legally required amounts of sewage, and that some treatment works are manipulating wastewater systems to divert raw sewage directly into rivers and seas.
Human 💩is literally flowing under our noses, whilst profit-hungry water companies shamelessly cover-up their dirty business.
That’s why our Wave of Action appeal is SO needed. We urgently need extra resources to double down on research to expose their bad behaviour, and campaign louder than ever for the laws we need to protect our waters.
That’s why I’m asking you John, can you help by donating to our Big Give appeal today so we can take this fight to the next level? Every £ raised up to £55,000 will be doubled this week only, so now really is the time to take action:
Yes, I'll give £10 - doubled to £20 [[link removed]] Yes, I'll give £35 - doubled to £70 [[link removed]] Yes, I'll give £50 - doubled to £100 [[link removed]]
With the promise of new laws to reform the water sector on the table, we have no option but to go bigger and bolder. There’s no doubt that big polluters are pulling the strings behind the scenes - in fact, under Labour’s proposed new Waters Bill, the costs of failing water companies could be passed on to bill payers like you and me!
We cannot let these underhand tactics get in the way of real reform. Momentum for change is building, but the fight is far from over. We urgently need every single person reading this email to help to expose these tactics and find new ways to protect our waterways from pollution.
Will you dive in to help and join our Wave of Action by donating whatever you can today? There’s nothing more important you can do to save our waterways right now:
Yes, I'll give £10 - doubled to £20 [[link removed]] Yes, I'll give £35 - doubled to £70 [[link removed]] Yes, I'll give £50 - doubled to £100 [[link removed]]
It’s time to sort out this sh*t show and show polluters we won’t stand for their dodgy cover-ups and underhand tactics.
Thank you John for everything you’ve done already for the SAS community - we literally wouldn’t exist without you.
Giles Bristow
CEO, Surfers Against Sewage
P.S. We totally understand if you aren’t able to donate right now? You support us in so many ways! But could you forward this email to five people to help spread the word about big polluters dodgy cover-ups? Thank you!
