1) Voters Agree: Legal Immigrant Workers Benefit America
Job one on immigration is to secure the border.
Job two is to get visas for the immigrants we need and who help make our economy more prosperous. This includes H1b tech/specialty skill workers and H2b seasonal workers.
This latter category includes:
Housekeepers, gardeners, hotel/restaurant workers, and specialty jobs such as forest management workers in western states, who protect against forest fires. They typically work four to six months here and then go home.
Our new Unleash Prosperity poll of 1,000 voters finds two-thirds support for the program among all voters and Trump supporters:
* 69% of likely Trump voters support a structured, temporary, non-agricultural visa program and 16% oppose once informed of the program requirements
* 55% of likely Trump voters support reforming the program to meet employer demand.
There's nothing sinister about this program. Donald Trump's resorts use these visas routinely, and he has correctly endorsed more worker permits for industries that prove there are not enough domestic workers available. Right now, the demand for these visas is roughly 200,000. But only 60,000 are awarded annually.
Fix this.

2) House COVID Report Confirms UP Findings: Lockdowns an Unmitigated Disaster
Congratulations to Brad Wenstrup, the committee members, and staff on a comprehensive report, which cites UP's similarly named Covid Lessons Learned report ([link removed]) multiple times:
[link removed]
The new congressional report ([link removed]) backs up our findings on the extremely negative effects of lockdowns and school closures with extensive additional findings. It also exhaustively details the shocking amount of fraud in "COVID relief" programs, like unemployment benefits.
The committee found strong evidence that the virus likely emerged from US-funded work at the Wuhan Institute of Virology and that Fauci (and others) concealed their role.
The major takeaway: health authorities adopted a panicked lockdown response instead of following consensus pandemic response strategies, including keeping people calm and society functioning.

3) Speaking of COVID...
This may raise your hair to the ceiling. It sure did ours...
On the same day the above report was officially released, the White House floated a potential blanket pardon for the villain of the decade: Dr. Anthony Fauci.
He might need this pardon to avoid a long prison sentence after repeatedly perjuring himself.
This could be even more outrageous than the Hunter pardon.

4) Our Failing Schools Keep Getting Worse
Speaking of lockdowns, here's a disturbing but not surprising chart, with the latest international comparison of students:
[link removed]
We can't help but notice that Sweden (where schools for kids under 16 did not close for a single day during COVID) is up near the top of that chart. And this chart shows that in the last five years, US students went from being slightly better at math than their Swedish counterparts to being notably worse:

Only school choice will reverse these trends.

5) This Failing Chicago School Has More Staff Than Students...
...but the predictable solution from the teachers union is to spend more and hire more staff.
The Illinois Policy Institute has run through the numbers ([link removed]) . Douglass Academy High School has 35 students enrolled for the 2023-2024 school year in a building with a 900-student capacity. It also has a 64% absentee rate. That means, on an average day, this building has 16 students... and 23 staff. Yet the Chicago Teacher's Union demands the school add eight more staff, including a "librarian, librarian assistant, social worker, newcomer liaison, case manager, restorative justice coordinator, 'Climate Champion,' and gender support coordinator and/or LGBTQ+ lead/specialist."
According to IPI: "Douglass already spends over $68,000 per student. All that money and all that potential staff attention, yet it failed to produce even a single student who was proficient in either reading or math on a recent SAT."
This is the most extreme example, but many public schools in once-great American cities are overfunded, underattended, and failing to educate children. Opponents of school choice want families to have no real alternatives.
