Renewable Energy Academy workshop recordings are
now available online

The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) is thrilled to announce that the Renewable Energy Academy (REA) has launched an online version of the REA Workshops that provide local officials, planning commissioners, and/or planning staff with the information needed to proactively prepare for the new large scale renewable energy siting landscape specified under Public Act 233 that came into effect on
November 29, 2024.

The REA Online Series includes three parts:

* Part 1 – Introduction to Renewable Energy [ [link removed] ] which focuses on the basics of utility-scale renewables including a brief overview of the benefits and concerns of each technology.
* Part 2 – Public Act 233: The Four Pathways [ [link removed] ] which provides an in-depth exploration of the four permitting pathways local governments should consider.
* Part 3 – Workable Zoning Ordinances [ [link removed] ] which dives into the various strategies local governments can use to develop effective renewable energy ordinances.

The recordings can also be found on the REA Webpage [ [link removed] ] and EGLE’s YouTube Channel [ [link removed] ]. New videos and updates are planned to enhance the REA’s online offerings.
