It’s devastating to write these words, but Donald Trump’s plans and promises
feel like a human rights emergency.



He has already shown us the bigotry, xenophobia, and white supremacist
rhetoric that existed under his first term. And sadly, I fear that a second
term will be no different.



I want to acknowledge the grief, anger, and fear that many may be feeling
right now. But I need you to know —Amnesty International will be throwing its
heart and soul into stopping any and all anti-human rights initiatives in
Trump’s plans.



We cannot — and will not – back down. Far too much is at stake.



Right now, you may be filled with anxiety thinking things like: Now what? What
can I do?



Let me be clear — Amnesty International has been through it all. We’ve been
defending freedoms from those trying to strip them away for more than six
decades — and we’re not about to stop now.



Today, I ask that you show your support for human rights loud and proud by

Donald Trump did untold damage to human rights in the U.S. and abroad during
his first administration, working to dismantle the very institutions
responsible for ensuring that all people can live freely, in safety and dignity.



But we will be holding him and others to account. We will be watching.

about human rights, but thatyou refuse to back down in the face of adversity.



We have the mother of all fights coming. We are going to have to fight smart,
fight brave and fight relentlessly.



But if we stick together and remember why so many people on our borders, in
communities across this country and around the world need Amnesty to be strong,
our values and our vision will prevail in the end.



When all else feels hopeless, Amnesty’s human rights documentation paired with
grassroots activism and organizing is what will make a tangible difference and
ensure human rights abuses do not go unchecked.
