Who is Kash Patel?

Trump’s nominee to serve as FBI Director may seem like a relative unknown
to much of the public, but Patel’s nomination is sounding alarm bells for
Democrats and Republicans alike.

Kash Patel isn’t just unqualified – he’s a threat. His career has been
defined by loyalty to Trump, conspiracy theories, and a willingness to do
whatever it takes to protect his boss, no matter the cost to our
democracy.

Even Trump’s former Attorney General, Bill Barr, put his foot down when
Trump tried to make Patel the second-in-command at the FBI during his
first term. Barr blocked the move, saying, “Over my dead body.”

Patel’s record speaks volumes. He’s attacked the FBI and intelligence
agencies for years, pushing baseless “deep state” conspiracy theories to
undermine the agencies’ credibility. When Trump mishandled classified
documents, Patel was right there spinning lies to shield him from
accountability. ^[1]

Patel’s current agenda goes even further. He has openly stated his
intention to use the FBI to investigate and intimidate journalists he
views as adversaries. This is Trump’s vision for the bureau under Patel’s
leadership: a weapon to silence the free press and punish those who dare
to investigate or report the truth.

If Patel is confirmed, here’s what’s at stake:

* Independent journalists could face government retaliation for
reporting the truth.
* Whistleblowers and agents who speak out could be silenced.
* The FBI’s independence would be destroyed, turning it into Trump’s
personal weapon.
