Welcome to our November wrap-up newsletter! This November has been filled with important work both in Washington, D.C., and back home serving Alabama’s Second Congressional District. We’ve made strides in modernizing veterans' healthcare and benefits, stopping secret government spending, and expanding our team. Team Moore is dedicated to ensuring your values are represented, and we are committed to making each month count for our district! I’m grateful for your continued support and engagement. Your voice matters, and I encourage you to take part in my Survey of the Month—your feedback is important to me! I work for you, and I’m committed to making your voice heard. Stay in the loop with my latest efforts by following me on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Your involvement is the backbone of our movement. Need help with the VA, IRS, or Social Security Administration? My office is ready to assist. Call us at the numbers below or visit my website. | Rep. Barry Moore Member of Congress | This past month we celebrated Veterans Day to honor each soldier who has stood up to protect our freedoms and our way of life. To my fellow Veterans, thank you. As someone who's walked in your boots, I understand the sacrifices you've made — the time away from your loved ones, the challenges, and the courage it takes to serve. Your service means more than words can say. May God continue to bless our Veterans and our great nation. | Modernizing Veterans' healthcare and benefits | Last month, I proudly voted for H.R. 8371, the Senator Elizabeth Dole 21st Century Veterans Healthcare and Benefits Improvement Act. This bill aims to enhance healthcare, benefits, and services provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs to veterans, their families, and survivors. As a veteran, I am pleased to support this important bill, which modernizes our approach to veterans' care and ensures they receive the high-quality support they deserve. I am committed to honoring those who have served and ensuring that no veteran feels forgotten while I serve you in Congress! | Recently, my bill, the Stop Secret Spending Act of 2024, passed out of the Oversight Committee 38-0! This bill ensures that "other transaction agreements" (OTAs)—flexible contracts often used for research and development—are reported on USAspending.gov, making them accessible to the public. The Stop Secret Spending Act of 2024 is a critical step toward holding federal agencies accountable for how they spend taxpayers' hard-earned money. I am hopeful that my bill will be brought to the House floor for a full vote and that we can put this legislation into action! | Do you plan to travel out of the country this holiday season? The State Department’s Bureau of Consular Affairs has reduced processing times for passports to 4-6 weeks. The updated processing time applies to both applications submitted by paper or online, but expedited service for U.S. passports processing time will remain between 2‑3 weeks. The processing times begin when an application is received by the State Department and do NOT include mailing times. | Serving the people of Alabama with the best | I’m excited to announce several key staff changes in my congressional office that will enhance our ability to serve Alabama's 2nd District. Madison Green has been promoted to Chief of Staff, while Marshall Macheledt will serve as Deputy Chief of Staff and Legislative Director. Emery Washington will take on the role of Communications Director, and Taylor Keel has been elevated to Legislative Assistant, focusing on his Agriculture Committee portfolio. Additionally, Brittany Young joins the team as Scheduler. I am proud to hire and promote these talented individuals who have consistently demonstrated their commitment to serving the people of Alabama. Their experience and understanding of our office's mission will ensure a seamless transition as they take on these new responsibilities. With this dedicated team in place, I am confident we will continue to build on our momentum and work even harder for our constituents. | Interested in marching in the 60th Inaugural Parade? | The Joint Task Force-National Capital Region will be accepting applications for groups to march in the 60th Inaugural Parade through December 4, 2024! The parade will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025 in Washington, D.C. Please apply if you are interested, and best of luck! | What issue do you want Trump to tackle on day one in the White House? Taking this survey will sign you up for future news and updates from my office. | CSX Platinum Select site's groundbreaking in Theodore | It was an honor to participate in the groundbreaking ceremony for the CSX Platinum Select site in Theodore. This site’s strategic location near the Port of Mobile is crucial for our state and is expected to create approximately 2,500 jobs in the area. I look forward to collaborating with everyone involved to ensure Alabama's economy continues to thrive. I truly enjoyed the event and appreciated the opportunity to meet with attendees and share a legislative update on the work being done in D.C. on your behalf! | Visiting federal, state, and local projects in Clayton, Eufaula, and Headland | This past month, Alex Reynolds from Team Moore had the opportunity to spend a day with the Southeast Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission, visiting various federal, state, and local projects in Clayton, Eufaula, and Headland. During his visit, Alex provided attendees with an update on my work in D.C. I want to extend my gratitude to everyone who took the time to guide Alex throughout the day!
