Move to Impeach South Korean Leader

Emboldened by their forceful rejection of military rule, members of South Korea’s political opposition moved on Wednesday to impeach President Yoon Suk Yeol, after his abrupt declaration of martial law failed, as the NYT reports.

French Parliament Votes to Oust Michel Barnier’s Government

The French parliament on Wednesday voted to oust prime minister Michel Barnier over his proposed deficit-cutting budget, plunging the country into deeper political turmoil, as the FT reports.

Powell Cites Economic Strength

Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said the economy looks better now than it did when the central bank began cutting interest rates in September, which means the Fed can move more slowly in reducing borrowing costs, as the WSJ reports.
