Friend – Wisconsinites are hurting as COVID-19 continues to have devastating effects on communities in every corner of our state. Currently, Wisconsin state prisons are on the brink of becoming a public health catastrophe – and we need your help to stop it. An outbreak of COVID-19 in our prisons would strain our hospital system, endanger public health, and claim thousands of lives, many of whom are Black Wisconsinites who are 12 times more likely to be incarcerated. We need to bring all our voices together to protect all citizens of Wisconsin from this deadly pandemic. That's why we are challenging our volunteers to collect as many signatures on this petition as possible. The top 3 signature collectors will receive prize packages from the ACLU store. Your voice can make a difference and even save a life. Wisconsin's crowded prisons are overcapacity, and social distancing is impossible in these cramped and squalid conditions. So far, Governor Evers has reduced the prison population in Wisconsin by 3.8 percent, but a greater reduction must be made to protect public health. Sincerely, Sean Wilson |
