Hi friend --

A new Pew Research survey finds that 70% of Americans want everyone to be able to vote by mail in the upcoming election.

To make that possible, House Democrats have included expanded voting protections and early voting opportunities in the HEROES Act. According to POLITICO, the bill requires states offer “universal ‘no-excuse’ absentee voting, online and same-day voter registration and expanded early voting, among other changes.”

It’s no surprise the GOP hates the idea. The ranking Republican member on the House Rules Committee voiced his opposition, saying, “We as Republicans have a distinct, different philosophy on what the federal government’s role in elections should be.”

If how Republicans treated Wisconsin’s primary was any indication, the GOP “philosophy” is to bar vote-by-mail extensions, close polling places, and force Americans to wait in long lines in the middle of a pandemic.

The HEROES Act still has a fighting chance, which means so does election security. But Congress needs to know there will be consequences if they don’t deliver what Americans want and need -- so tell us now:
