It’s hard to overstate how important the census is to our democracy. Since 1790, the United States has been gathering census data to decide how many seats in Congress each state should receive, not to mention how much representation each state has in the Electoral College.

It’s no wonder, then, that some Republicans have cynically tried to use this powerful tool to restrict access to the ballot. Before the last census, our movement successfully blocked Trump from adding an unconstitutional and racist citizenship question.

With Trump returning to power, we need to be prepared to beat back these attacks again. Add your name to say loudly and clearly that we won’t stand for attacks on the 2030 Census. [[link removed]]

This blatant power grab was struck down by the Supreme Court the last time Trump tried to manipulate the census, but we know they are already planning to try again once he’s back in power. In fact, they wrote down all their unconstitutional and power-hungry plans for the public to read about.

The authors of Project 2025 proposed adding a citizenship question to the census, leading to a deliberate undercounting of populations with high rates of immigrants. Not only that, but these extremists plan to appoint political officials to decide who does or doesn’t get counted in the next census, instead of impartial, nonpartisan actors.

We cannot stand by as Trump and other extremists attack the census. Our democracy requires that we ensure everyone is fairly represented — and that’s why the NDRC is fighting back once again to protect the census.

Sign on to our letter to draw a line in the sand against unconstitutional, racist attacks on the census — and let’s do everything we can to protect this fundamental part of our democracy. [[link removed]]
