Operation Safe Stop Results

The Pennsylvania Departments of Transportation and Education, the Pennsylvania State Police, West Shore Regional Police, and West Shore School District released the results of Operation Safe Stop, an annual school bus enforcement initiative that promotes bus safety for Pennsylvania students.

The operation was held on October 2, 2024, and documented 131 occurrences of drivers violating the PA School Bus Stopping Law. This law requires motorists from all directions to stop at least 10 feet from the bus when approaching a school bus with its red lights flashing and stop arm activated. In 2023, there were 177 violations in the one-day study.

I ask each motorist to please be careful and patient on the roads. Our students deserve to feel safe while they wait or get off their bus.
