Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday -- lots of food, family, and fun, and no pressure about gifts or decorations. This year we had the pleasure of hosting 13 family members, and -- thanks to many excellent cooks and willing dishwashers -- it was a joyous occasion. We remembered those who are no longer with us and made new memories to cherish.
We watched Vols basketball beat UT Martin and Vols football beat Vandy. We ran the Turkey Trot 5K, shopped local, saw Wicked, and went bowling. And the Friday after Thanksgiving, we joined thousands of Knoxvillians -- and Santa! -- to light the City Christmas tree ([link removed]) . It was a very Knoxville holiday.
Knoxville is extra special this time of the year in the many ways our community steps up to help. From food, toy and coat drives, to Secret Santa projects, Angel trees and warming centers, the giving spirit is alive and well in our city.
Thank you to everyone who volunteers and donates to support those in need.
Wishing you and yours a peaceful holiday season,
Indya
