Washington DC — Community Justice extends heartfelt congratulations to Representative Yvette Clarke (D-NY), the newly elected Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC), and Representative Adriano Espaillat (D-NY), the incoming Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) for the 119th Congress. The Congressional Black Caucus’ Executive Committee also includes First Vice Chair Representative Troy Carter (D-LA), Second Vice Chair Representative Lucy McBath (D-GA), Secretary Representative Marilyn Strickland (D-WA), and Whip Representative Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D-CA). Deputy Chair Representative Darren Soto (D-FL), Whip Representative Sylvia Garcia (D-TX), Vice Chair of Diversity and Inclusion Representative Joaquin Castro (D-TX), Vice Chair of Communications Representative Norma Torres (D-CA), Vice Chair of Member Engagement Rep. Andrea Salinas (D-OR), and Vice Chair of Policy Representative Robert Menendez (D-NJ) make up the CHC’s Leadership Committee.
As steadfast champions of equity and justice, the CBC and CHC have been at the forefront of legislative action addressing critical issues affecting Black and Hispanic communities. Under the leadership of Representatives Clarke and Espaillat, we are confident these caucuses will continue to drive meaningful change, advocate for policies that promote community safety, and work to eliminate systemic barriers faced by marginalized communities.
“Leadership matters, especially at a time when our communities are grappling with rising challenges and persistent inequities,” said José Alfaro, Executive Director of Community Justice . “We look forward to working alongside Chairwoman Clarke and Chairman Espaillat to advance our shared goals of ending gun violence in Black and brown communities, supporting survivors, and building safer communities for all.”
