Did you know that next year, the governorship AND control of the legislature are on the line in Virginia?

In a moment, I’m going to ask you to chip in $5 to help me support Virginia Democrats in this pivotal moment in the Commonwealth’s history, but first, I want to tell you why winning these races is so important.

I’ve spoken with a lot of folks about what the upcoming Republican trifecta in Washington means for our state. Many are asking what we can possibly do to withstand its dangerous agenda. If you feel like there’s no hope, I’m here to tell you that’s not the case. What we can do over the next four years – and what Virginia has the chance to do starting NEXT MONTH – is elect Democrats at the state level to be the last line of defense against the Trump agenda.

With abortion rights, climate, and education likely to be under attack in the coming years, having a Democratic-controlled legislature and a Democratic governor in Virginia will make a huge difference in our fight.

Think about it: let’s say Trump delivers on his threat to dismantle the Department of Education. Who at the state level can sign bills to make sure our public schools get the support they need? The governor. If Trump bans abortion federally, who can fight to protect reproductive freedom in Virginia? The state legislature.

Next month, Virginians will vote in a special election that will decide control of the state Senate – if we fail to elect Kannan Srinivasan, Republicans will flip the chamber red. And next November, Virginians will have the chance to elect a Democrat to the governor’s office. Our fight to win these elections is well underway – and we need your help.
