Join the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) in Marquette for two days of dynamic environmental training [ [link removed] ], starting with the Northern Michigan Environmental Conference on March 12, followed by targeted workshops on March 13. Attendees will hear the latest on environmental regulations, permitting, resources, and best practices. 

What to Expect

*March 12 - Northern Michigan Environmental Conference*

Day one will bring together professionals from various industries, local governments, real estate, construction, and health departments to gain insights into critical environmental topics through tailored tracks:


* *Water resource protection for developers, builders, and realtors:* Floodplain regulations, lakefront properties and wetlands/inland lakes and streams regulations, nonpoint source pollution grants, best management practices to protect water quality, and applying for water resource permits.
* *Mining regulations and permitting:* Air permitting, groundwater and geological services, groundwater permitting.
* *Environmental emergency response:* Preparing for storms, floods, and other emergencies.
* *Drinking water protection:* Onsite septic and the Septic Replacement Loan Program, Lead and Copper Program updates, and wells for new developments.
* *Water permitting:* Groundwater discharge permitting, surface water discharges, and spill prevention and secondary containment.
* *Air quality issues: *Fugitive dust and asbestos compliance and best practices, air monitoring and understanding the data in your community, and odors and zoning issues.
* *Materials management:* Lithium-Ion battery safety, food waste reduction, diversion, and security, and materials management planning.

Attend the conference to connect with EGLE experts and peers to learn about the latest regulations, tools, and strategies for protecting Michigan’s environment. There will be a resource area to connect one-on-one with EGLE staff and get your questions answered.

March 13 - Targeted Workshops*

Day two is geared for contractors, local government, climate and energy professionals, and drinking water professionals to take a deeper dive into the following topics:


* Risk Based Corrective Action 
* Petroleum Underground Storage Tanks
* Implementing the MI Healthy Climate Plan – Climate & Energy Programs and Funding Opportunities
* Renewable Energy Academy
* Cyber Incident Response Workshop
