John,
After the Democratic Party faced some major losses at the polls this November, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is reportedly leaning toward naming Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand as the next chair of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC).
Why does this matter? Well, the DSCC is one of the main fundraising arms for the Democratic establishment, and Gillibrand is one of the Crypto industry’s biggest allies in Washington.
Crypto executives are buying influence in the halls of power by spending huge sums of money against progressive candidates like Congress members Cori Bush and Jamaal Bowman, as well as U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown.
Gillibrand is one of the people in Washington who’s been most bought by Crypto, and it shows — she introduced a bill last year to create sweeping, industry-friendly changes to Crypto taxes and regulation.
Now, they’re on their way to winning another big fight, putting one of their biggest allies in charge of the Democratic Senate campaign group.
Crypto is the main reason we lost a critical Senate seat in Ohio, contributing to a Republican majority after corporate Democrats across the country like Gillibrand welcomed their influence. If the Party wants to start appealing to working class people again, this is not the way to go about it.
In solidarity,
Justice Democrats
