Donald Trump announced that on January 20th, he will institute a 25% tariff on all imports from Mexico and Canada.
A tariff is a tax the government charges U.S.-based companies for bringing foreign-made goods from another country. In response, companies can either stop importing those items and buy them in America, or just raise their prices to cancel out the tax penalty. And it looks like retailers already deciding what to do.
Major companies like Walmart, Lowe's, Autozone, and more are warning Americans that they will be paying more for their products if Republicans follow through with this Trump Tax Plan. Economic experts estimate the Trump Tax Plan would cost the average household in El Paso $2,600 per year.
So I wanted to know, will the Trump Tax Plan hurt your pockets?
