I’ve spent the last few weeks reflecting on the November election. While the results were not what we had hoped and worked hard for, I am, and always will be, proud of the Michigan Democratic Party and the incredible work thousands of volunteers poured into this cycle.

We still have a lot to celebrate in Michigan, especially in the face of the uncertainty and fear a second Trump presidency brings. Together, we:

  • Won the majority of races we supported statewide
  • Increased down-ballot candidate recruitment by over 13% across the state and made strides to ensure Republicans didn’t go unchallenged on the ballot
  • Supported 561 candidates across every corner of the state
  • Protected pro-public education boards by recruiting and supporting 65 local school board candidates (with an 83% win rate!)
  • Won 81% of nonpartisan races this cycle

With your support, Michigan Democrats fought back against MAGA misinformation, tricks, and outside money to protect statewide and local offices. As a battleground state, Michigan always had a target on our backs, but we aren’t backing down and will continue our work to build a strong foundation for the critical years ahead.

The Michigan Democratic Party works year-round across Michigan to recruit, support, and elect Democrats who are fighting to make Michigan a better place for all Michiganders. We know that early investment will be critical to shepherd in big wins in upcoming municipal and midterm elections.
