Dear friend and climate advocate,

The COVID-19 pandemic has thrust Illinois families and businesses into a public health and economic crisis, spotlighting the cost of failing to plan ahead for global threats. As we emerge from this crisis, we must mount a bold recovery effort to build a strong, equitable economy and healthier, more resilient communities.

The Clean Energy Jobs Act (CEJA) puts us on the road to a just recovery by providing long-term answers to the public health and economic challenges posed by the novel coronavirus.

CEJA will boost one of our fastest growing industries in Illinois - clean energy - creating new, well-paying jobs and putting people back to work, especially in communities of color and places where coal-fired electricity plants operate.

Likewise, CEJA will improve public health by tackling the impacts of climate change and reducing air pollution that has weakened the respiratory health of communities on the front lines of this pandemic.
