Memphis-Midsouth DSA
Dear comrade,
This year is quickly coming to a close, but our chapter is finishing strong with a bunch of ways you can get involved.
Whether you are feeling anxious about the threat of a Trump presidency--or fired up to change everything--now is a great time to connect with others who get it and want to get things done.
Memphis Rise UP | Saturday, 7th at 5pm | First Congo
Memphis Rise Up is a community outreach organization founded by members
of Memphis Queers for Palestine in response to the results of the 2024
U.S. presidential election. Memphis Midsouth DSA's Steering Committee has endorsed this meeting, and we strongly encourage attending and mixing it up in this coalition effort!
Our chapter's workplace organizing committee is active, standing with unorganized and organized workers. If you want to do the same, or need resources & skills to organize your own workplace, you should attend this meeting!
General Meeting | Tuesday, 10th at 6pm | RP Tracks
This will be the last General Meeting of the year. It is being jointly planned by outgoing and incoming officers. In part, we will discuss how to make concrete the priorities we established at our Annual Assembly in November.
Mutual Aid Committee (Provisional) Meeting | Wednesday, 11th at 6pm | RP Tracks
Mutual aid is among those efforts deemed most pressing by our Annual Assembly, by new members, and by the demands of our moment. The committee is being formalized, and it is currently considering a trip to North Carolina to help with hurricane relief, identifying a storage location to collect items for distribution, preparing a survey of our membership, studying models of mutual aid and solidarity economy, and is actively helping to build for the Memphis Rise Up meeting on the 7th.
Memphis Midsouth Socialist Social
Early in the new year we will be hosting our first Socialist Social! This will be hosted by the chapter, but will be open to anyone who wants to socialize with us! Keep an eye out for updates.
New Member Onboarding
We are organizing a program to connect new members to the chapter and its work, provide tools for organizing, and a first taste at political education. A number of incoming and outgoing officers are working together on putting this together. If you are a new member, or want to join with new members in this process, please contact the Steering Committee.
