Hear from Socialists in Office & DSA-LA members running for organizational leadership in 2025.

 John,

Election Day this year brought conflicting results for leftists in Los Angeles. While we brace for another Trump presidency and the ascent of the far right nationally, here in LA we elected two new DSA members to office — Karla Griego to Los Angeles Unified School Board and Ysabel Jurado to City Council — and reelected Konstantine Anthony to Burbank City Council. They join Hugo Soto-Martinez, Nithya Raman, and Eunisses Hernandez on the City Council, and Rocío Rivas on the School Board as DSA-LA’s Socialists in Office. What does this mean for our strategy as an organization heading into 2025 and our efforts to protect immigrants, defund the police, and keep tenants housed?

Join fellow DSA-LA members for a panel, discussion, and forum this Saturday, Dec. 7 with our Socialists in Office and candidates for DSA-LA leadership in 2025 to talk about what our roadmap to a Los Angeles for the working class looks like in the year ahead.

Socialists Must Lead in 2025: Strategizing With Socialists in Office & DSA Leadership Candidates

Saturday, December 7 - 10 am to 2:30 pm
Unite HERE Local 11
464 Lucas Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90017

The first half of the event will consist of a panel with our Socialists in Office and group discussions discussing our political strategy around housing, immigration and policing, and how DSA electeds can support this work. The second half of the event will consist of a forum with candidates for organizational leadership (Steering Committee and Branch Coordinators), so members can make an informed choice about the direction we want DSA-LA to take given the political landscape and organizational needs at this moment.

Together, we hope these discussions will give members the chance to think about and make decisions around what it will take to meet the moment with the urgency, democracy, and clarity it requires.

This event will be in-person,  with a hybrid Zoom option provided for the second half discussion with DSA-LA leadership candidates. Only Members in Good Standing will be allowed into the room for programming. Click here to join DSA-LA or renew your dues to attend. You can view you current membership status at the bottom of this email.
