Some people have an aura, or a physical warning, when a seizure is coming on. I have my service dog, Bishop. Thanks to Bishop, and many other supports and precautions, epilepsy doesn’t get in the way of pursuing my dreams.
I’m an avid horseback rider (see the photo of me and my horse, Perla, below!), and I’m able to do this safely using a special safety vest that will inflate and protect me if I have a seizure and fall. With Bishop at my side, I always feel safe. I have tried many treatments and seen many doctors, but I still live with drug-resistant epilepsy and continue to have daily seizures.
