John,
Today, I had the pleasure of speaking with Jessica Post, President of the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee, and Texas state Representative Celia Israel, founding member of the Texas House LGBTQ Caucus, about the impact our state legislatures have on our everyday lives. You can watch our conversation here. [[link removed]]

Being from Texas, I’ve seen first-hand the harm an anti-equality legislature can do. Texas is the origin point for many toxic anti-LGBTQ bills that then spread to other state legislatures. As Jess and I discussed, anti-LGBTQ state legislators work together across state lines, so what happens in one legislature can affect all of us . It puts all of us at risk.
But there’s a lot of good news too. Our LGBTQ candidates are essential to flipping the Texas legislature, the North Carolina legislature and more. When we win, we won’t only make LGBTQ history across the country, but also better our country for years to come.
If we want to win the presidency in 2020, we have to win the state houses. If we want to flip the U.S. Senate and elect a pro-equality majority, our candidates must win. Want to stop the legion of legislation based in hate and discrimination? We have one chance to elect the right people. Chip in today. [[link removed]]

LGBTQ Victory Fund has helped thousands of openly LGBTQ candidates win elections up and down the ballot, from sea to shining sea since our founding in 1991. We believe representation is power – so we elected U.S. Senators Tammy Baldwin and Kyrsten Sinema, Governors Jared Polis and Kate Brown, all seven LGBTQ members of U.S. Congress and countless candidates for state and local government, including Virginia Delegate Danica Roem, Colorado state Representative Leslie Herod and Pennsylvania Assemblymember Brian Sims. And with an unprecedented number of LGBTQ people running for office in this year, we’ll need your support to make 2020 the next Rainbow Wave.
