This Christmas season, I wanted to remind you of our “Merry Christmas Texas” project which empowers public schools and individuals to use their constitutional rights to freely acknowledge and educate students about Christmas.
In 2013, our team led the efforts to pass the Merry Christmas Law (H.B. 308) to protect the religious liberty of children, parents, teachers, and school staff to acknowledge Christmas without fear of censorship, persecution, or litigation. The “Merry Christmas Texas” project was launched shortly after to continue to spread awareness on this First Amendment right.
Every year (specifically in 2013 - Frisco ISD and Austin ISD; 2016 -Killeen ISD; and 2022 – City of Taylor) there are attacks on Christmas and the individual religious liberty rights of Texans. In one example, a Texas Values supporter in the North Texas area is a teacher in a local school district. The school district tried to intimidate a teacher into not recognizing Christmas. Click here to see more details of attacks on Christmas in Texas public schools and in other places in Texas.
This teacher was very thankful for Texas Values and finding resources that show protections for Christmas in public schools. Visit merrychristmastexas.com to learn more about the law and how it can protect you and your family in public school!
