Last week, the U.S. Senate took up a vote on a bipartisan amendment that would prohibit law enforcement agencies like the FBI from accessing your internet search history without a warrant – and Cindy Hyde-Smith voted against it.
The amendment, supported on both sides of the aisle, would have limited government surveillance powers to protect Americans’ privacy, but it failed to pass by a single vote.
Hyde-Smith could have been the deciding factor in protecting every American’s privacy online from federal intrusion, but instead, she chose to let government agents have the power to access your personal information — regardless of whether you did anything wrong.
Once again, Hyde-Smith has voted against the best interests of the Mississippians she was elected to serve, which is why it’s so important we replace her with Mike Espy this November.
