The list of true reforms promised by incoming President Trump is lengthy: FBI Reform, Election Integrity, and Parents’ Bill of Rights are some of them.
But FBI reform is important- and Trump’s choice of Kash Patel to head the FBI shows his commitment to reform.
Why does the FBI need reform? It has been biased in its involvement in politics, and needs trust restored!

The FBI has lost so much credibility that Trump is not even using them for background investigations of his nominees.
Trump and his team are using private companies for background checks. He plans to override the usual process and grant security clearances his first day in office. Then once his own people are running the FBI, he will allow the FBI to do background checks.
The concern is that, as currently structured and controlled, the FBI simply cannot be entrusted to fairly and objectively carry out what should be routine personnel investigations of incoming presidential nominees.
Until the President-elect has his own people in the FBI and can bring a stop to the political motivation to attack his nominees, Trump has cut the FBI out of the process.
When the FBI has so completely lost the confidence of the people, it is in need of serious reform.
Liberty Guard has an FBI reform agenda we would propose to FBI Director-nominee Kash Patel. It includes:
-Increase Congressional oversight and accountability. The legislation governing these agencies must be amended to make clear that Congress has ultimate oversight power over them. The law must make clear that Bureau leadership CANNOT ignore congressional oversight inquiries.
-Make the FBI accountable in court.We must change the law to limit the immunity afforded the FBI in court. This would go a long way toward making the FBI accountable to the citizenry, which will help cut down on abuses and promote accountability, even as it would not interfere with the important investigative work of the FBI.
-Make the DOJ and FBI more accountable to the constitutional rights of individual citizens. We must expand the First Amendment protections found in Section 215 of the USA PATRIOT Act. While the existing Section 215 of this law appears to restrain the FBI, it does so only in an extremely limited and purposefully convoluted way, essentially giving the FBI the power to seize evidence to which it otherwise would not be entitled. This language in Section 215 carves out an exception to our First Amendment guarantees wide enough to drive a Mack Truck through. This must be fixed.
-Independent investigation of the Secret Service and FBI. The two attempted assassinations of President Trump call into serious question the effectiveness and professionalism of both of these important federal law enforcement agencies. Government rarely investigates itself well; outside, independent investigation of these agencies is needed to determine if political motivations are behind the lax protection of the President-Elect.
