standing up to utilities

Hello Friend,

You'll hear a lot of important stories this giving Tuesday, but we want to tell you about one that mostly flew under the radar.

Thanks to the hard work of so many people, the New York State legislature passed an Intervenor Funding bill, which would have provided representation for ordinary people in utility rate hike proceedings.

?

But last month, Governor Hochul vetoed the bill, taking that representation way.

At AGREE, our expert staff are working hard to keep intervening in rate cases, standing up for all the New Yorkers who are struggling to pay already-exorbitant utility bills. But especially after this veto, we are planning to do even more.

?

To do it, we're going to have to make sure our staff can travel even more public hearings, spend more time on cases, and maybe even hire experts to help support.

So this giving Tuesday, please help us raise $2400 by the end of 2024 to help fund this travel and support, and give New Yorkers the representation you deserve.

Together, we can do something the Governor won't: stand up for New Yorkers
economic wellbeing, health, and future by protecting each other from unfair bills and unsafe fossil fuels.

We're getting closer to our goal every day, but even a few dollars will go a long way.

We'll be back very soon with more ways to help keep building a green economy in New York!
