Nathan Coulter Banner
Friends and neighbors,
I want to sincerely thank you, neighbors and friends, for choosing to send me back to the Minnesota House in 2025 to continue to represent and advocate for Bloomington.
While we will retain our DFL majority in the Minnesota Senate, we will have a tied House - 67 DFLers and 67 Republicans. My focus remains the same: working hard on the issues that matter to folks in Bloomington and delivering for our community. Specifically, I'm excited to continue working to bring down the costs of child care, property taxes, and college, centering the voices of voters in our elections, and meeting the needs of our city and schools.
In the meantime, I want to share some exciting updates with you, including an upcoming Community Conversation and information on bills passed in 2023 and 2024 that will be going into effect in the coming months.
Join me for a Community Conversation!
Join me for a Bloomington Community Conversation on December 12th at 6pm! Discussion will include new laws from the last legislative session, a look ahead at the 2025 legislative session, and Bloomington community happenings. The event will take place at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Bloomington. You can follow the Facebook event page [ [link removed] ] for updates and to RSVP! Please contact
[email protected] with questions about the event.

White House Convening on Child Care
I was honored to join colleagues from Minnesota and around the country recently at The White House Convening on Child Care. I’m grateful that President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have long recognized the importance and centrality of early care and learning to our economy (present and future) and to the stability and success of families and kiddos!
I got some great ideas to take back to MN (and got to do a little bragging about all the awesome work we did here, too!)

Banning Forever Chemicals
During the 2023 and 2024 sessions, we passed legislation to ban harmful forever chemicals known as PFAS from consumer goods in Minnesota, especially in products our kids come into contact with every day. As of January 1, 2025, these laws will go into effect and require new products sold or distributed in 11 categories be made without PFAS [ [link removed] ]. Categories include:
* carpets or rugs, including outdoor carpet and car floor mats
* cleaning products, including detergents and stain removers
* cookware
* cosmetics
* dental floss
* fabric treatments
* juvenile products, including car seats, children’s clothing, and toys for children under 12
* menstruation products, including tampons and disposable and reusable pads
* ski wax
* textile furnishings, including draperies, bedding, and towels
* upholstered furniture
Make sure to refresh vital items like cosmetics and menstrual products after the new year to ensure that you and your family are saying no to PFAS!
