Dear John
This is the time of year to express gratitude for the people and things that make our lives meaningful, especially our families, friends, co-workers, and the causes we hold dear.
We at People’s World are incredibly grateful to you and our community of readers. We consistently emphasize that without your generous support, we simply wouldn’t exist.
That says everything about our special bond. You expect to be informed, motivated, and inspired, and we are committed to delivering the truth, the best news, Marxist analysis, and cultural reviews.
And we need each other now more than ever. On Giving Tuesday, please donate generously to ensure People’s World can expand and deepen our coverage while reaching new audiences. [[link removed]]
Like you, we were deeply disappointed with the election results. Our working class and citizens have suffered tremendous setbacks, and the period ahead will be challenging. The victor, a serial liar, rapist, and fraudster, intends to govern like an autocrat from Day 1 without a mandate.
A primary target of autocratic regimes is free and independent media. The president-elect threatens the mass media with retribution and the revocation of licenses if they provide critical coverage. Some media corporations and personalities have already bent the knee.
Rule Number One in confronting an autocrat is not to obey in advance. People’s World and millions of others refuse to lie down. The resistance began the day after the election, when 140,000 activists joined a Zoom call to chart a fightback. Zoom calls with 20,000 African American women and 20,000 Indivisible activists followed.
People’s World is not giving in to fear. We stay true to our readers: the working class and all people. We continue covering the resistance and remain a beacon of truth against the Project 2025 Agenda! During the election, right-wing propaganda media, taking advantage of declining confidence in mainstream media, influenced tens of millions of voters with right-wing ideas through talk shows, podcasts, TikTok, and other social media platforms. They will continue to build a fascist right-wing movement based on disinformation and lies about the new administration.
People’s World is proud of its election coverage. Between January 1 and the election, we produced over 500 stories, reaching over 2.7 million readers. We reported on the herculean efforts of organized labor and its allies to mobilize the vote in battleground states while spotlighting critical issues. Another 200,000 people have read our post-election analysis, including our “Morning After” analysis, which has gained wide international readership and has been republished in Brazil, Britain, India, and Spain, with Catalan, Portuguese, and Spanish translations.
Sadly, the pro-democracy and independent media, including People’s World , have struggled to effectively counter the lies of the right-wing propaganda machine that misled and brainwashed so many. We predict that soon, even within the first few months of the new presidential term, significant numbers of Trump voters will recognize their mistake and begin seeking answers elsewhere—answers rooted in a comprehensive working-class identity.
This is a significant challenge for us and the entire anti-MAGA movement, but we are ready to tackle it. People’s World has launched a new website design to create a modern, multimedia platform that delivers news, ideas, and information to a broader audience through print, video, audio, podcasts, and social media.
This is an enormous and expensive undertaking, but we have no choice. Please donate generously so we can complete this project, enhance and improve our content, and expand our reach! [[link removed]]
While plutocrats and MAGA continue trying to divide the working class and the people, we’ll keep building unity and community for the fights ahead.
In solidarity,
