Dear Reader,
Unless you are brand new to FIRST THINGS, you know that we are not shy about presenting our financial needs and requesting your charitable support.
There is good reason for this. We receive more than a third of the charitable support we need to publish FIRST THINGS and execute our programs in the month of December.
More than that, we know that you want to lend support to causes that matter to you. And we believe that inviting your support is a great way to involve you more deeply in the mission and work of FIRST THINGS—as true partners rather than mere customers.
For everything there is a season, and December is a season of giving. But today—Giving Tuesday to some, Gratitude Tuesday to us—I invite you to join FIRST THINGS in a brief pause before the frenzy of the holidays and this season of giving.
As we do so, allow us to extend our sincere gratitude to you on behalf of everyone who writes, edits, and works for FIRST THINGS. We often refer to FIRST THINGS as a community of readers. This community is enlarged, enlivened, and made possible only by your faithful readership. Thank you.
