When new attacks against religious freedom happen, you are the reason that we can step in to defend religious freedom.
Because of your generosity, our expert legal team is positioned on the frontlines diligently keeping watch and preparing for the next time they will take a stand for liberty.
And that next call to action could come from a member of the armed forces, a teacher, an employee or even from a pastor.
This year, there has been a resurgence in attacks against houses of worship, pastors and rabbis – the likes of which I haven’t seen in a long time.
Local bureaucrats are using whatever means necessary to keep ministries from fulfilling their most basic mission – serving those in need.
- In Bryan, Ohio, they’ve criminally charged Pastor Chris Avell for providing a safe place for the town’s most vulnerable to go 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- In San Luis, Arizona, they’ve tried to force Pastor Jose Castro to end his food ministry that has been feeding the hungry in his community for 25 years.
- In Weare, New Hampshire, they’ve sought to prevent Pastor Howard Kaloogian from hosting religious gatherings in his home and on his property.
- And in Castle Rock, Colorado, they’ve canceled Pastor Mike Polhemus’ efforts to provide temporary and emergency shelter for helpless and suddenly homeless people.
Make no mistake, the financial and criminal threats being hurled at these pastors and their respective churches are very real and very dangerous.
They are also illegal and unconstitutional. That’s why we are fighting back.
Churches shouldn’t be threatened or fined for feeding the hungry and caring for the most vulnerable. Government should support – not punish – houses of worship that do essential work for their communities.
But to win, we need you to fight with us on behalf these pastors and churches. You and I can’t stand by while critical ministries like these are being shut down.
