John,
In the past few years, we’ve seen right-wing groups and politicians escalate their efforts to enact book bans and erase Black history from classrooms and libraries. And now, we’re facing a second Trump administration that will empower those attacks on our history from the highest level of government.
Color Of Change is committed to fighting back and organizing with community members to demand that students have access to a quality education, accurate history and more care in our education system. Based on your record as a top supporter, we’re asking you to make a Giving Tuesday contribution of $25 or more to our end-of-year fundraising drive to power our campaigns for education justice:

President-elect Donald Trump has vowed to eliminate the U.S. Department of Education and has announced that he will appoint former wrestling executive Linda McMahon as secretary of education. He has tasked her with “send[ing] education back to the states,” a dog whistle for reversing the advances we’ve made to ensure diversity, equity and inclusion in all areas of education and for now allowing the discriminatory policies the federal department routinely combatted.
John, Color Of Change is committed to fighting on all fronts to keep the lessons of our history alive and to defend and empower our educators and students. In addition to demanding legislators and education providers put a stop to harmful policies, we’re providing free training sessions so that students, educators and community members can gain the tools they need to organize for change at the local level. Since August 2023, we’ve trained more than 1,100 community leaders with our free #DefendBlackHistory school board and storytelling workshops.
We know that more truth in education leads to more equity in society. That’s why powerful interests are working so hard to keep accurate history out of the classroom. Black history IS American history, and we won’t stop fighting to ensure that our stories are told to aid us all in the struggle for a racially just world. Will you pitch in today to support this critical work?
