Orange County Classical Academy is a Model for Public Schools in California

Just-released state test scores show that the Orange County Classical Academy, a charter school in a working-class neighborhood in the city of Orange, is among the best schools in California. OCCA students outperform their peers in surrounding schools in English by 71 percent proficient versus 58 percent, 66 percent versus 46 percent in math and 54 percent versus 39 percent in science, despite OCCA’s funding disadvantage.

It’s no surprise then that OCCA has a waiting list of over 1,000 students...
