Friend,
Today is #GivingTuesday, a day dedicated to supporting the organizations you care about most. We’re in the midst of a $250,000 matching gift challenge in support of our Global Partners program, and I hope I can count on your participation today.
The Global Partners program lends much needed support to smaller organizations working on wildlife conservation, sexual and reproductive health services, empowering women and girls, and more! The problems that these organizations tackle—much like rapid population growth—are global issues with local origins and effects.
Today I’m excited to introduce you to one of the Global Partners we support in Guatemala: Asociación Manos Abiertas (AMA). AMA seeks to address the high unmet need for contraception in Guatemala—currently, only 69% of women and adolescents of childbearing age who wish to avoid pregnancy have access to modern contraception. According to AMA, meeting all maternal health care needs in Guatemala would decrease unwanted pregnancies by 78%.
Each year, the AMA team provides up to 900 long-term and 270 short-term contraceptive methods, as well as family planning day clinics, STI tests, cervical cancer screenings, prenatal care, and more. This year, AMA shored up their mobile services by purchasing a new vehicle for their mobile clinic, which brings family planning services and cervical cancer screenings to remote communities. This mobile clinic was made possible, in part, thanks to support from Population Connection, funded by the generosity of supporters like you!
That’s why I hope you’ll consider making your gift in support of Global Partners like Asociación Manos Abiertas today, in honor of #GivingTuesday. Your gift of $35.00 will be DOUBLED by a generous supporter, up to $250,000! [[link removed]]
AMA is just one of 19 organizations receiving special donor-funded grants from Population Connection. Their work complements our existing programs, and we can raise their profiles, tell their stories, and share their challenges related to population growth with concerned global citizens like you. Collectively, these organizations directly benefit tens of thousands of people—an incredible level of impact that we are honored to support with your help!
Thank you for your generosity and partnership during this season of giving. We are grateful to YOU for everything you make possible.
Warm regards,
