John, imagine having to flee your home, not knowing where you or your children will sleep. Heavy rains can turn the streets in refugee camps into treacherous swamps. Temperatures start to dip below freezing at night, numbing your fingers and chilling your bones. You have no coats, blankets or gas for heat.
Your donation this Giving Tuesday could help the IRC deliver urgently-needed emergency supplies and other critical assistance to families before the weather conditions worsen.
Until midnight tonight, every dollar you contribute will go 3X as far to support families facing crisis. Make an even greater difference right now by making your special Giving Tuesday gift to the IRC >>
John, displaced people need your help to survive and stay warm during unimaginable crises.
In Ukraine, countless children and families are going weeks without heat or electricity due to attacks on the power grids.
"It's cold, very cold in the apartment. I'm dressed like this, sleeping, piling on even more layers, under three blankets because it's very cold. Especially at night, when you get up, it's as cold outside as it is inside."
—Nina, a Kherson resident whose apartment building was damaged by an attack drone
In Gaza, children and families are living in tents or self-built shelters in makeshift sites that are ill-suited to weather conditions.
"From my experience in Gaza and in Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, I would like to tell the whole world that there is a severe shortage in all medical supplies and consumables. The need is very, very, very great, beyond what any human being can imagine for these people because the number of injuries is very high."
—Mohammad Jamil Mohammad Hamdan, a volunteer operations nurse with the IRC and our partner's Emergency Medical Team (EMT)
And in Afghanistan, families are still reeling from the intense flooding that swept away homes and destroyed lives and livelihoods.
"The winter is approaching, so we need a space heater (Bukhari). Wood, clothes, jumper, blanket and similar things."
—Laila, a pregnant mother with a 2 year old
