But closer to home, there’s someone whose actions are arguably even more damaging to our daily lives and the future of our children: Tom Horne, Arizona’s Superintendent of Public Instruction.
Horne’s long political career has left a troubling legacy. He first served as Superintendent of Public Instruction from 2003 to 2011, then as Attorney General from 2011 to 2015. After a brief hiatus, he returned in 2022 to lead our state’s schools once again. His most recent tenure has been marked by policies that not only defy reason but also undermine the values we hold dear.
Perhaps the most glaring example of this is Horne’s push to incorporate PragerU materials into Arizona’s school curriculum. PragerU is a far-right organization promoting blatantly false and harmful ideas, including claims that slavery "taught Black people valuable skills," and that climate change is an outright hoax. These are not just fringe theories—they’re being handed to our children as “education.”
It’s difficult to imagine how anyone could justify such curriculum in our schools, yet this is exactly what Horne has championed. His actions are not just misguided—they’re dangerous. By endorsing and promoting such extremist content, Horne is attempting to reshape the minds of our children with far-right propaganda, threatening the integrity of public education in Arizona.
The good news? We have a chance to stop him. In 2026, Tom Horne will be up for re-election, and we are committed to ensuring he does not win another term. Over 60% of his votes come from Maricopa County, which makes our work here pivotal. To defeat him, we need to organize, mobilize, and hit him where it hurts, right here in Maricopa County.
