| Friend, It’s Giving Tuesday, and most organizations are asking for donations. Courage California usually does, too! But on this Giving Tuesday, we aren’t asking you to give us money -- we’re asking you to give us your voice. We’ll explain: Donald Trump has declared war on California and our 40 million citizens. He has publicly called our state “destroyed” and “paradise lost.”(1) And if we don’t stand as one unified front against Trump’s awful policies, our legislators won’t have the political wherewithal to do so, either -- and many of our friends and neighbors will be in danger. In the upcoming months, Courage California members will have to fight against Trump’s draconian mass deportation plan, his tariffs that will damage California industries and raise prices, and his anti-LGBTQ policies. Like many nonprofit organizations during the Biden administration, our membership has shrunk. We need to get as many people on board as possible before Trump takes office. Even with Democratic leadership and a leading economy, California is not Trump proof. Here are just some of the ways that Trump has promised to attack California and our progressive values:(2)
We were able to overcome the worst of Trump’s attacks on our civil liberties -- from kids in cages to the Muslim Ban to his attempt to overturn the Affordable Care Act -- because our representatives in Congress and the state legislature knew there were millions of us ready to make them pay a political price if they gave in to Trump. We have to be ready to do the same again. Help us prove there is strength in numbers by asking your friends and family to commit to fight Trump with Courage California.
