Hello John,
Greg here from Stewardship Utah. It’s Giving Tuesday, and if you have been following us over the past few years, you know what’s coming. I am going to ask that you ignore Giving Tuesday . If this is new to you, I bet you’re wondering what is going on ? Giving Tuesday represents a day of generosity and altruism for many nationwide, a reminder of the important work being done in communities and how you can support those efforts. And for many large nonprofits, it represents a sizable chunk of their yearly fundraising efforts. For smaller organizations like ours, it means competing for resources with other nonprofits, pitting us against each other to reach fundraising goals.
"Having lived in Salt Lake for 5 years and seeing the pollution get worse with every year that passed, I knew I wanted to take some action. My monthly donation to this organization makes me feel like I am taking real action to a better future for Utah. The work they are doing to elect officials who care about pollution and our climate impact is important and I'm proud to support their efforts."
- Victoria, sustainer since August 2023

Instead, today I ask that you consider becoming a monthly sustaining donor . Stewardship Utah’s work is year-round. We depend on the generosity of our community of supporters throughout the year and, crucially, the generosity of our sustaining donors. Monthly donors allow Stewardship Utah staff certainty, stability, and flexibility needed to protect the land, air, and water for all in Utah. It helps us plan for the future and dream big, knowing we have reliable resources year-round.

When you join our sustainer community, your gift helps our work during the legislative session at the beginning of the year, our boots on the ground during primary elections in the summer months, and then wraps up the calendar with general election fieldwork and policy drafting. Not to mention everything in between! Community education, coalition building, and organizing Utahns from all corners of the state. Here at Stewardship Utah, there’s no such thing as an off year. These efforts are constant and need support each and every month.
As we have done in the past, we celebrate the generosity of our communities this Giving Tuesday and admire the spirit of all who support nonprofit work. We are especially grateful for each and every one of our sustaining members and the stability and flexibility they afford our organization. We look forward to welcoming you as a new sustainer and to working alongside you as we protect the land, air, and water for all in Utah.

If you’d like to make a one-time donation to us on Giving Tuesday or see other ways to support us, we thank you for it. You can do so here. [[link removed]] We’re beyond grateful for the generosity we’ve received that has made our work in 2024 possible. From us and every small non-profit doing big work, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Here’s to our next 12 months of community and good stewardship!
