THECB Seeks Public Comment on Proposed Amendments to Rules on Limitations for Course Drops

The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (Coordinating Board) has proposed amendments to Texas Administrative Code, Title 19, Part 1, Chapter 4, Subchapter A, §4.9, relating to Limitations on the Number of Courses that May be Dropped Under Certain Circumstances by Undergraduate Students.

The proposed amendments include a re-organization of some subsections for clarity and guidelines for institutions regarding statutory requirements for allowing a student to drop six or more courses. The proposed amendments also include a provision requiring an institution to maintain an appeals process that complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Interested stakeholders have until December 15th to email statements of support or suggested revisions to [email protected]. Stakeholders should mention or link to the proposed amendments of the Texas Administrative Code they are providing feedback on.

After all comments are received and documented, it is anticipated that the proposal will be presented for consideration of approval by the board at their January Quarterly Meeting.
