Dear Global Citizen, Today is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities — a day to honor the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities worldwide. Did you know that about 1 in 6 people globally live with some form of disability? That’s over a billion individuals with unique stories, perspectives, and challenges that deserve recognition and inclusion. Despite progress, barriers like discrimination, exclusion, and lack of resources continue to limit opportunities for so many. That’s why Global Citizen launched a global campaign for disability inclusion, leading up to the Global Disability Summit (GDS) in Berlin, Germany, in April 2025. Co-hosted by the International Disability Alliance and the Governments of Germany and Jordan, the GDS will bring together leaders, representatives of organizations of persons with disabilities, and other civil society organizations to turn promises into action and ensure disability inclusion is at the heart of global change.
