Dear MoveOn member,
It's Giving Tuesday, but donations to nonprofit organizations, including MoveOn, have plummeted in recent years.1
"Organizations across the country are facing dire financial straits that have led to hiring freezes, program cuts, layoffs, and in some cases, closures," explained The Chronicle of Philanthropy in an article last month.2
A jaw-dropping 20 million fewer households are donating to nonprofits.3 And much of the remaining money that is being given goes to Ivy League schools and religious organizations.4
The hard reality for MoveOn, similar to nonprofits large and small across the country, is that we're facing sharp declines in our funding at a time when our mission is more important than ever, as Donald Trump and his MAGA loyalists take over all three branches of government and put the safety, freedom, and dignity of millions of us at dire risk.
On this Giving Tuesday, we need your help, John. MoveOn's resources come from people like you all over the country chipping in what you can afford.
Will you donate $9 or as generously as you can afford this Giving Tuesday?
MoveOn's work in the coming days, months, and years starts with pushing the Democratic Party to truly learn from the 2024 election and engage and listen deeply to progressives across the country about their vision for a future that is more representative, responsive, and powerful.
At the same time, we'll organize millions of Americans to stop Trump's most dangerous nominations, such as Kash Patel as FBI director, and block as much of Trump's agenda as possible. That's going to happen by being strategic about the fights we take on, organizing at scale, collaborating with large and small organizations across the country, learning from allies worldwide who have fought authoritarian regimes, and being creative and thinking outside the box as we face Trump's attacks.
MoveOn is an online community of millions of people in every state, every congressional district, and every corner of the country. Millions of us who believe in a just future where everyone can thrive.
And no matter what happens in the months and years ahead, we must remember that we have the power to determine our future—by joining together, fighting back, sharing our vision, and growing and strengthening our movement.
Our work is essential, and the MoveOn community will be here hard at work day after day, month after month, and year after year. We got this, together.
Thanks for all you do.
–Alex, Alexis, Saskia, Olga, and the rest of the team
