John,
Our Giving Tuesday campaign has officially kicked off.
Thanks to Lenczner Slaght and their ReferToHer™ program, the first $15,000 donated today will be matched, doubling the impact of your contribution in our fight for the rights of women, girls, trans, and non-binary people!
Can we count on your support today?
This year, with your help, LEAF:
-
Appealed to both courts and legislatures to ensure that trans and gender-diverse children in Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, and Alberta can be their authentic selves, directly challenging the pronoun policies in these provinces that put children at risk of harm.
-
Was granted leave by the Supreme Court to intervene in a case about recognizing the tort of family violence – a pervasive, insidious, and systemic form of violence that disproportionately impacts women.
-
Went to the Supreme Court to underscore the importance of using an intersectional, substantive equality-based analysis when assessing how several laws criminalizing sex work impact the liberty and security of sex workers.
-
Launched a new report mapping out how to hold governments accountable for taking steps to end the gender-based violence (GBV) epidemic in Canada. Now, we’re in talks with key decision-makers advocating for the creation of a GBV Commissioner in Canada.
Next year, LEAF will:
- Advocate for the use of restorative and transformative justice in provinces and territories as a response to sexual violence that centres survivors’ healing.
-
Engage in advocacy and awareness-raising about the troubling use of the notwithstanding clause of the Charter, also known as the override clause, to enact regressive laws and impact equality rights.
- Continue to expand our public legal education program, local branches, and much more!
LEAF’s essential work is only possible through the generosity of our donors and funding partners.
Will you donate today to double your impact and help LEAF reach our $30,000 goal?
Thank you for standing with us in the pursuit of justice!
