Dear Jack,
What should be the role of religion in public life?
Its an age-old question, but for me, the answer is simple: “Robust!”
Though the mainstream consensus would have us believe that religion should be pushed as far to the margins of society as possible, you and I know that this is a recipe for disaster.
This Giving Tuesday, I’m asking you to stand with us as we reject the mainstream consensus and “testify to the Truth” (John 18:37).
The truth is that the future of free society requires a restoration of divine authority. This is in part because human beings are hardwired to worship. The very idea of “culture” (from the Latin cultus or cult) presupposes a shared object of focus or worship. When God is no longer at the center of our culture, our society will be organized around some other imagined supreme power or false god.
As one author put it, “because idols are mute, the rejection of the true God clears the way for men to lord over us…and…conjure ideologies to justify their dominion.” It is not clergy in the seats of power we need, but “the gospel in the hearts of the powerful.”
This is why the North Carolina Values Coalition exists. Together with our 150,000+ voice strong coalition, our role and mission is to keep God at the center of public life, to Proclaim Christ in the legislature, in the courts, and in the public square, and to ensure that the Biblical values of life, family, and religious liberty are at the center over the debates that shape our society.
We firmly believe—and I know you do, too—that success in this mission is essential to a flourishing North Carolina, and I need your help to hold the historic victories we’ve won over the past two years and to take even more ground in 2025.
Today is #GivingTuesday, and for many of our supporters, it’s the day they begin thinking about—or making—their year-end giving decisions.
It’s also the day that groups like Planned Parenthood, the Human Rights Campaign, and dangerous others rake in millions to endanger women, indoctrinate children, and end the lives of innocent unborn babies..
If you’ve been on the sidelines this year, it’s time to join the fight. If this year’s election taught us anything, it’s that the “silent majority” is alive and well, that we can win back the culture, and that the future of our state and nation depends on our success. And none of this happens without you.
