Today is Giving Tuesday, a global movement in over 100 countries to kick off the festive season of giving. Celebrate today and do something amazing, by supporting our Christmas appeal to protect Tiger’s and other endangered species.

Following our reports on the tiger skin trade 20 years ago, the use of tiger and other Asian big cat skins to decorate traditional costumes has greatly declined in Tibet.

Unfortunately, China’s military, political and business elite still prizes tiger skins for use as ‘luxury’ home decoration as rugs. Tigers’ teeth and claws are fashioned into expensive jewellery, while their bones are used to make wine and are illegally used in medicine.

I find it gut-wrenching to think that wild tiger skins are used as rugs and their body parts are used for jewellery, wine and medicine.

Will you support us now as we embark on a new project to stop criminal gangs from exploiting tigers?

Our latest programme will support civil society organisations and front line law enforcement officers, helping them identify and prosecute the criminals who mastermind the illegal trans-Himalayan wildlife trade.
