Dear Friend,
Happy Monday! We hope you had a restful and rejuvenating holiday break. As we jump back into the work ahead, we want to take a moment to recognize that tomorrow is International Day of Persons with Disabilities. At Progressive Maryland, we are committed to recognizing the intersectionality of the issues faced by people with disabilities and fighting for the rights of all. Whether it’s in the events we plan or the campaigns we lead, we strive to ensure our disability community is always included and uplifted.
It’s hard to believe, but we’re now at the start of December. While the year is winding down, things are still in full swing here at Progressive Maryland! In this week’s memo, we’ve got details on upcoming events, fun ways to stay engaged (including a game!), and important updates you won’t want to miss. We’re excited to finish the year strong with you and look forward to continuing to reach our shared goals. Let’s make these last weeks of the year count!
In solidarity, The Progressive Maryland Team |

🎉 Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday—time to see if you’ve got BINGO!
This year, we’ve created a Progressive Maryland Bingo Board to celebrate your contributions to the movement! With December here, it’s a great way to reflect on how you’ve taken tangible steps toward progress this year. |
If you’ve got BINGO, send your completed card to [email protected] to receive a special gift in the mail! 🎁
While you’re filling out your board, don’t forget—Giving Tuesday is tomorrow! This global day of generosity is how nonprofits like ours kick-start the work for next year’s goals. For us, that begins with the 2025 legislative session, and every donation helps us hit the ground running. Here’s how your support directly fuels the fight for Maryland’s working families: - $25 helps us create banners for rallies.
-
$50 funds yard signs to spread awareness.
- $250 covers the cost of a phone bank targeting legislators.
- $500 prints 2,500 flyers to amplify our message.
Every dollar counts, and any amount is deeply appreciated as we work to safeguard democracy and advocate for the issues that matter most to Maryland’s working families. Let’s make this Giving Tuesday a huge success—together! |

We’ll celebrate our victories, honor the dedication of our volunteers and allies, and hold space for the challenges we’ve faced this year.
Featuring an inspiring address from a community leader, this event will combine real talk with hope for the future as we strategize how to continue building momentum in our fight for progress. You’ll also hear about ways you can get involved to help shape Maryland’s future. Don’t miss this chance to find clarity, purpose, and connection as we move forward together.

Healthcare Justice Campaign: Gearing Up For 2025
Battleground Annapolis: Next Steps to Stop Health Insurance Denials and to Support Healthcare Workers With your support, we will take the lead on and support bills that crack down on insurance care and claims denials. Take action:
Maryland has a severe hospital staffing crisis and the worst Emergency Department wait times in the country! Progressive Maryland is part of the Patient-Worker Collaborative for Safe Staffing Committees which will push for passage of the Safe Staffing Act.

Prince George’s County Oxon Hill / South Prince George’s County:
We continue to push for better schools in Oxon Hill and Prince George’s County through our Power Our Schools Campaign, because we know that our campaigns and our organizing are the answers to the uncertainty of a Trump presidency. We CANNOT let the money that the IRA offers to better our schools and fight educational inequities and climate change go down the drain and unused for our students. We visited the Superintendent’s office on November 21st and are steps closer!
Be a part of the change for PG County Schools by contacting the organizer Anton ([email protected]) to help with testimonies, outreach, and research. LinkTree
Landover / Central Prince George’s County:
After our Kentland Neighborhood Union launch meeting on October 22nd, we are fighting for the needs of our neighborhoods. We have the opportunity to drive the results of the upcoming special elections as well as what change we want to see brought to Kentland and Central PG County. Sign up here to become a member!

News You Can Use -- Maryland and other Blue states ramp up defenses against TrumpWorld
Sounds like last week’s News You Can Use headline, right? We guess that’s the point. As the once and future Prez assembles his gang of miscreants and oligarchs, Red states are wallowing in the possibilities while Maryland and other Blue states in gangland's gunsights are assessing Trump's intentions based on the people with whom he is populating his billionaires' paradise. Trump's intentions do not look like any kind of government we are used to, or can even imagine.
And in Maryland: MoCo to keep burning trash; Jamie R makes his move; the state needs to double mental health personnel; fossil fuel lobbying crimping climate plans (?); democratizing Assembly replacements; bracing for deportations in the state's Hispanic communities. See the details in News You Can Use for this week. |
