Last spring, I was taking some time off work for maternity leave. I can’t say I was expecting Netflix to change my life when I decided to watch Knock Down the House! But there was something innately special for me seeing Cori up on the screen, openly and proudly sharing her life stories, values, and identity as a black woman.
She wasn’t even in office yet, but I still felt represented by her. True leaders inspire us to take a leap of faith to fight for a better world, even when it seems impossible. I joined #TeamCori that night, and the rest is history.
With a growing family in tow, I thought donating what I could, when I could, was the best way to help. Then I heard my coworkers speak up at a town hall, pleading with decision-makers for better pay, better working conditions, and any sense of equity in the workplace. I realized it wasn’t enough to hope for the best. I needed to take to the streets and join Cori to do the hard work of organizing our communities from the bottom-up.
Sacrificing time from my family has not always been easy, but working with our incredible volunteers at #TeamCori has only strengthened my hope for our district. This campaign has given so many folks in our community a sense of purpose greater than themselves. In the midst of a global pandemic, we are changing hearts, minds, and votes all across St. Louis with our unwavering support of policies like Medicare for All and a $15 living wage.
With less than three months to go until our primary, you can make a critical difference in this race. Our campaign needs to make more calls, send more texts and letters, and print more signs. Join me by chipping in recurring monthly donations to elect Cori.
I chose to respond to a bigger calling, for my community. We need Congresswoman Bush now more than ever. For the sake of your communities and mine, can we count on your support?
In solidarity,
