Hi John,
I’m Kate, and I’ve just joined Team Spanberger to help with our digital efforts!
Last year, I was a joint staffer working for the VA House and Senate Democratic caucuses. I will never forget the feeling of Election Night 2019 when we flipped the General Assembly blue for the first time in over two decades.
I have seen firsthand the incredible grassroots support and unshakeable will-to-win among Virginia Democrats. I know we need to put just as much energy into protecting Virginia’s red-to-blue districts as we did winning them, and nowhere is that more clear than Abigail’s re-election campaign. I am thrilled to join the team and ready to get down to work.
Yesterday, Bettina, Whitney, and I met to discuss some of the important next steps for our ongoing digital campaign. I wanted to share some info with you to keep you up to date.
First, as you probably know, our digital efforts will be incredibly crucial this year. With so many Virginians at home right now, we know we can communicate with them online and get them educated, trained, and involved in the campaign. As we prep for the fall, there are some important things I wanted you to be aware of:
→ We’ve significantly increased our social media presence. You may have noticed that we’re sharing more information on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. We know many voters look to these platforms for updates, so we’re spending more time there.
→ We’re preparing to run online ads in the fall. As our campaign progresses and we begin advertising, online communications will be a key part of our strategy to reach voters across VA-07.
→ We’re recruiting and training volunteers online. Our organizing team has already trained hundreds of volunteers. We’re hosting virtual campaign hours and events and this will continue to be an important part of our 2020 strategy.
Now, John, all of these things are necessary for our success in November. I need to ask for your help. This campaign needs grassroots support from emails like this one. In order for us to do the things I’ve mentioned, we need to have strong fundraising. Can you consider a contribution of $20 today?

Thank you for all of your help,
Kate
