It has been an election season for the history books! Earlier this month, President-elect Trump became only the second president in U.S. history to win the presidency in non-consecutive terms. Republicans also clinched the majority in the House and took back the Senate, making it clear that the American people are placing their trust and confidence in the Republican party’s vision for our nation’s future.

Congratulations ([link removed]) to Roosevelt Conservation Caucus members Sen. Thune ([link removed]) (R-SD), Sen. Moore-Capito (R-WV), and Sen. Barrasso (R-WY) on their new Senate leadership roles. All have received our Congressional Champions Award for their commitment to advocating for innovative and commonsense environmental, energy, and conservation policies. As the country continues to face these challenges, they are the right leaders at the right time.

Additional ([link removed]) Roosevelt Conservation Caucus members who have been selected to serve in the new administration include former Congressman Lee Zeldin, to head the Environmental Protection Agency; Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, to be the U.S. ambassador to the UN; and Representative Mike Waltz, to be the National Security Advisor.

Speaking of the Caucus, we held our annual Awards banquet this month, where we honored conservation champions Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-ND), Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-AK), Rep. Andrew Garbarino (R-NY), and Rep. Ryan Zinke (R-MT). Many other Members also stopped by, including RCC co-chair Rep. Buddy Carter (R-GA), Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), and Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC). As always, we thank these members for their work on behalf of our country and our many sponsors ([link removed]) for supporting this event.

We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and a restful weekend. Amidst all the political noise and the (fun!) chaos of the holiday season, remember to take time to reflect, recharge, reconnect, and spend some time outside in nature. See you next month!
