Hi, ACLU Supporter, we're Jennifer Dalven, Director of the ACLU's Reproductive Freedom Project, and Chase Strangio, Co-Director with the ACLU's LGBTQ & HIV Project.

We're reaching out to tell you about our ongoing work to protect people's freedoms – and to ask you to support that work by making a matched gift ahead of Giving Tuesday. <[link removed]>

Over the past two years, the fight for bodily autonomy has changed dramatically.

In 2022, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, stripping away our right to federally-protected abortion access. Since then, more than 20 states have banned or severely limited access to abortion.

In the fight for LGBTQ rights, we witnessed states across the country pass dangerous laws aimed at restricting health care access for transgender youth and banning even the discussion of gender and sexual orientation in schools.

To combat this onslaught of attacks, the ACLU mobilized. This year, we:

* Partnered with coalition members in states like Missouri, Arizona, and Nevada to pass abortion rights ballot measures in the 2024 election, enshrining the right to abortion in state constitutions

* Have gone to court in states like Ohio, Kentucky, Missouri and Georgia to strike down abortion bans

* Defeated a state-level ban on same-sex marriage in Ohio, setting precedence for fights in additional states that attempt to restrict equal access to marriage

* Challenged state-level attacks on health care access for trans people, including in our case where we are arguing in front of the Supreme Court this Wednesday against a Tennessee law that bans gender-affirming medical care for transgender youth

But with Donald Trump headed back to the White House, we know the fight will only escalate. And it will take tremendous resources to keep up this fight in the states, the courts, and beyond. That’s why we’re reaching out today:

Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday, and the ACLU needs to raise $250,000 to ensure that we can continue our fight for full reproductive freedom, protect trans youth, and defend all of our civil rights where they're threatened.

We've launched our 2X-match opportunity early this year because we know that this needs our full support. If you're ready to join us and fight for reproductive freedom, will you make a matched donation now? <[link removed]>
